Finding Suitable Rental Apartment In Kenya

Just a few weeks back I embarked on a journey to find a new apartment after deciding that I had had enough of my agent. My gut instincts of course told me to first "sit on my deposit" for the existing house I was living in. In the mean time, I set apart some time to look for a house once in a while. As fate would have it, the end month caught up with me without having found a suitable house that suited my tastes and budget. I finally made a resolve to use every means possible to get a house in under three days. I am ready to share with you the quickest means that you can explore to get a good house in a good neighborhood in less time.

The first thing you need to do before making a decision like on I made is to decide when and where you want to relocate. It is important to know where you want to move to before deciding that you want to move. Otherwise you will move and then hate your new neighborhood before you have settled. You also need to know when you want to move. Knowing when you want to move gives you enough time or motivation to save up for the expenses that you will incur in the process. If you are a foreigner, you should be aware that you are required to pay a month's rent as deposit plus rent for the month you are moving into the house.

Once you know where and when you want to move, you will find networking to be a very important tool. Liaise with friends and family. These people can alert you whenever there is a vacant house in their neighborhood. It is up to you to visit the location and make sure that it is the kind of house and neighborhood you want to live in.

Property agents are an important source of information about vacancies in the locations they operate in. Some freelance agents will ask for some payment to show you to available houses. You should be very cautious when dealing with this group. Some will be out there to scoop your money and run as soon as you are out of sight. Others will show you to houses they manage in the hope that you move into one. Either way it is important that you visit all the available houses and make sure to take notes to compare later.

There you have it. I hope that house hunting won't be a pain for you like it has been for me.
